Class 4: Blog items
It's raining money and hats in Class 4.
Date: 26th Mar 2021 @ 9:01pm
This week Class 4 have been busy learning about money. We began the week with identifying all the different coins we have. Later in the week, we used plastic coins the work out the cost of buying objects.
Many members of Class 4 and their parents have been busy this week making hats for today’s charity event. It was to raise money for The Brain Tumour Research Charity. We would like to say a big thank you to all the parents for helping their children with the hats. Also, a big thank you for your generous donations. Your children looked fantastic.
All the hats were prize winning standard but we were only allowed to choose one per class. For Class 4, we would like to say well done to Safah for being chosen as the winner. Such a clever and creative hat! Well done.

Class 4 have had a fun filled week, from acting out the story ‘Toby and the Great Fire of London’ to creating our own bakery in the classroom.
In DT this week, we have been very busy. To begin with, we designed biscuits, thinking about the shape and the different toppings we could use.
Later in the week, we followed the instructions of a simple recipe to make biscuits. After baking them, we decorated them with different toppings.
The finished product was so temping that many of the biscuits were gobbled up within minutes by the children. However, some managed to resists the temptation and waited to take their biscuits home to enjoy in the comfort of their own home.
Well done Class 4, we hope you enjoyed your biscuits.

It has been fantastic to have all the children back in class, we have missed them so much.
In Class 4, we have been learning all about trees in our science lessons. We learnt two long and difficult words this week. ‘Evergreen’ and ‘Deciduous’ trees. We have looked at their features and how they are different. We have also been naming and grouping different trees.
For our shared read this week, Class 4 read the book 'Biscuit Bear' by Mini Grey. We enjoyed finding out about what Biscuit Bear got up to in the middle of the night.
We ended the week by making some very special flowery cards, for a very special person.
‘Mum’s the word.’

This week in Class 4 we have had a great time taking apart in Christmas fun and games. We had our Christmas party, where the children came dressed in their favourite Christmas jumpers of all shapes and sizes. We wore our reindeer party hats and got to use our Christmas place mats.
Santa coming to visit our classroom was such an exciting moment. He was so jolly and happy that we decided to make our own Santa Christmas cards for our parents. We hope you liked them!
On party day, we played many games such as pass the parcel and musical statues. Many children managed to win a prize.
We have finally come to the end of a hard working term. We would like to wish all our parents a fantastic Christmas break. Thank you for all your help and support this term and we hope to see you all back in January.

C4 have been in festive spirits all week long in preparation for our lovely Christmas performances.
The children carefully used their cutting skills to make their reindeer hats and added a splash of glitter here and there to give it that sparkling Christmas touch.
They also had a great time learning the words to their song and practising the dance steps and actions. Turning left and turning right, going up and then down.
It was a proud moment for us when the children managed to sing, dance and balance their hats for their performance. It was a joy and a pleasure to watch. We are sure that you will enjoy watching it just as much as we did.
Well done Class 4!

This week, C4 have been excited to explore 3D shapes. Not only have they been able to name the shapes but they have been on a shape hunt, trying to find 3D objects around the classroom. It would be fantastic if they now went on a 3D shape hunt at home.
We were amazed by the way in which the children worked together to create their own 3D shapes using plasticine and toothpicks. It wasn’t a task to be rushed. Those that took their time, worked well with their partners and created their shapes using small steps, where successful in building their pyramids and cuboids.

Date: 28th Nov 2020 @ 12:12pm
Class 4 have been busy at home writing and performing autumn poems that describe what they can see, hear, smell and feel. They have worked hard on trying to come up with fantastic adjectives and onomatopoeias to make their poems interesting.
Class 4 have also been learning the names and properties of 2D shapes. They have even used shapes to create winter pictures. We can’t wait to see these next week.

Class 4 this week, we have been read the Percy the Part keeper story ‘One Snowy Night’
The children were glued to the book as the animals came knocking on Percy’s door, asking for a warm place to stay for the night.
We giggled when Percy and the animals all fell out of bed and shivered with fright when something came crawling out of the floorboards! Don’t worry, it was just a friendly mole.
Class 4 had a great time acting out the story and pretending to be the different animals that came looking for a bed.

This week in Class 4 we have enjoyed learning about spring. We looked at how the weather gets warmer and the different baby animals that are born.
We also looked at the different kind of flowers that start to grow during the spring season.
We then went onto develop our art skills by creating our own spring flowers inspired by the artist Georgia O'Keeffe.

This week we have started our new science topic, ‘Seasons’. We have looked at what it is like during the different seasons and made weather wheels to show our understanding.
Some of the children have also been creating their own autumn floors using leaves, conkers, pines cones and twigs. They looked fantastic!
Sticking with the autumn theme, we have also had great fun creating our own autumn leaf hedgehogs. They look amazing! Well done Class 4.

Finally, well done to the fantastic readers who have been reading to Mrs Ali, We know it’s harder reading over the phone but well done for being so resilient.
