Date: 20th Jun 2021 @ 5:25pm

Class 9 have been working hard this week.

For our English this week the children wrote an alternative re-tell to the story of Beowulf.

For Maths, the children were  asked to solve a range of questions involving fractions and probability. They worked very hard and learned new skills and developed a greater understanding.

For our Science topic we investigated whether gases have weight. The children had lots of fun investigating this and observing what happens to a fizzy cola bottle when shaken vigorously!  Ask them what they learned!

Year 4's fantastic curriculum week!

Date: 11th Jun 2021 @ 2:59pm

Phase 3 were inspired by ’Time Travel’ for our ‘Out of this world Curriculum Week.’

This week we designed and created our own futuristic home and thought about what our life was like in the future. We then created short drama sketches where we lived in our future homes.

Wall-E was another one of our inspirations – we briefly watched a clip and discussed why mankind would abandon Earth in the future and how it could be prevented.

The children were also budding artists and created Vincent Van Gogh inspired paintings on different media such as paper and the iPads. How creative they all were!

It has been a great week and we can’t wait to get our own iPad’s to carry on with our exciting digital learning.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Khalil

This week we have been learning all about the Vikings in History. The Viking age in European history was from about AD700 to 1100. During this period many Vikings left their homelands in Scandinavia and travelled by longboat to other countries, like Britain and Ireland.

We learnt that the people of Britain first saw the Viking longboats they came down to the shore to welcome them. However, the Vikings fought the local people, stealing from churches and burning buildings to the ground.

The people of Britain called the invaders 'Danes', but they came from Norway and Sweden as well as Denmark.

Class 9 have had a fantastic day on our Digital Lift Off. We have been amazed with how much information technology is part of our everyday lives. We learned that technology and communication has improved over time and we looked at and created time lines.

We thought about our future jobs and what technology would be involved in them. We are very excited to receive an iPad and enhance our learning opportunities.

E-safety

Children are getting online more than ever before which is incredibly positive for their learning and development. However, they are also exposed to certain dangers if the internet is used inappropriately.

To reduce the number of risks, it’s essential that children know how to keep themselves safe online and what to do when something isn’t quite right.

Inspired by... Black History

Date: 18th Oct 2020 @ 10:21pm

This week is Curriculum week. We are Inspired by... Black History and will be learning all about the Windrush generation.

Britain must pay its debts to the Windrush generation – no matter what it costs | Colin Grant | Opinion | The Guardian

Windrush Day takes place on 22 June, remembering the day when around 500 migrants from the Caribbean arrived at Tilbury Docks in Essex in 1948.

Britain was just starting to recover from World War Two back then. Thousands of buildings had been bombed, lots of houses had been destroyed and it all needed to be rebuilt.

In the Caribbean, lots of young men and women had served in the British armed forces because at the time, many Caribbean countries were still under British rule and not yet independent.

After the war, some of these people answered an advert to come to Britain where there were lots of different jobs to do.

Other people just wanted to see Britain, which they had heard so much about.

Watch the link to find out more.-
