This week in Reception, we had a fantastic time exploring the story The Great Race. The children loved learning about the animals that took part in the race and the reasons behind it. After listening to the story, the children chose their favourite animal to draw and write about, showing great creativity and enthusiasm! It was a wonderful opportunity to practice their fine motor skills while also thinking about the different characteristics of each animal.
In maths, we continued our work on number bonds to 10. The children have been using 10 frames to represent numbers and have been writing simple number sentences. They are making great progress in understanding the relationship between numbers and are becoming more confident with their addition skills.
We also celebrated Chinese New Year this week, diving into how it is celebrated around the world. The children loved exploring different aspects of the celebration, from learning about the Chinese zodiac animals to investigating the concept of area through play. They had so much fun using chopsticks to move pretend noodles, and it was a great way to develop their hand-eye coordination.
It's been a busy week full of learning and fun! The children are growing in confidence with their writing, maths skills, and understanding of different cultures. We can't wait to see what next week brings!
