This Week in Reception (WB 21.10.24)

This week has been curriculum week where we have focused on Inclusion and Diversity. 

As a class we have been reading the story 'Marvellous Me' and thinking about how we are similar to the other children in our class and how we are different and how we are all special. We took it in turns to look in a mirror and share what we like about ourselves. The children then created themselves in the workshop area, thinking about the different coloured wool we would need for our hair and the different materials we would like for our clothes. 

We also talked about 'What Makes us Special' and the children completed pictures of themselves and what makes thems special. 

We also read the book 'All Are Welcome' and made an inclusion promise. 

On Friday we celebrated Black History Month and learnt about the childrens TV presenter Floella Benjamin. We read a story about her life called 'Coming to England' and completed some fact files and art work about her.
