Nursery News: All About Me!

This week in Nursery, the children have been busy exploring their exciting "All About Me" topic! The focus of this theme has been helping our little learners to begin understanding who they are, what makes them unique, and how they fit into the world around them. It's been a wonderful way to get to know each other better and create a sense of community in the classroom.

Getting to Know Ourselves
Through fun and engaging activities, the children have been encouraged to talk about themselves, their families, and the things that make them special. From discussing their favourite toys to drawing self-portraits, we've seen the children proudly express themselves. This links beautifully to the Personal, Social and Emotional Development area within the Development Matters document, where the focus is on building self-awareness and confidence in children. Through these activities, they are starting to develop a positive sense of their own identity.

Family and Friends
A big part of our "All About Me" topic was celebrating our families and friendships. The children brought in family photos to share, which led to some lovely conversations about who’s in their family and what makes their family unique. This also supports the Communication and Language aspect of Development Matters, as children practised talking about their own experiences, developing their listening skills, and expanding their vocabulary.

Looking Ahead
Next week, we will continue to build on the "All About Me" theme, with a focus on the children's interests and the things they enjoy doing. As we move forward, we will continue to align our learning activities with the Development Matters document, ensuring that each child is developing key skills in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.

It’s been a wonderful week watching the children grow in confidence, build relationships, and learn more about themselves. We’re excited to see where this journey of self-discovery will take us next!
